VHS and Porter’s Chapel Academy played a tough couple of games on Friday against Brookhaven and Greenville. Layla Carter and Zy Smith both shined as they led their teams on the court, showing fierce determination and giving it their all.
Layla Carter sank 20 points for the Missy Gators, achieving seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Though the final score showed a 62-52 loss to Brookhaven, Carter showed fierce determination and shined as an athlete.
The VHS sophomore has now helped push the team to a 16-6 record under Head Coach Troy Stewart.
Zy Smith also helped carry the torch for the Lady Eagles, scoring 20 points – including two three-pointers that helped Porter’s Chapel stay in the game. The Eagles narrowly lost with a final score of 51-50.
Smith is a PCA sophomore and has assisted the Lady Eagles to attain a 18-8 record under Head Coach Casey Fisher.
