VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) – As the Warren Central Junior High School Vikings football team are preparing for their upcoming season, head coach Louis Green is looking forward to leading his team in the right direction.

Green, who is going into his fifth year as head coach, is seeing a lot of potential in his young team who will be playing their first game later this month.

“I’m feeling very good about where we are and we had good summer workouts with about eighty percent participation and we’re looking forward to competition,” Green said.

Quarterback Trace Hood will be taking the majority of snaps this season for WC. His coaches are fully confident that he can handle the pressure from opposing teams.

The Vikings have been working very hard this summer since early June, from Monday through Thursday in hot summer weather.

“Getting the chance to get the kids out in the heat gave us plenty of time to prepare for what’s next and I’m very satisfied with where we are athletically,” Green said.

Along with Green, WC will also be led be assistant coaches Charles  Swartz, Andrew Wilson, Fred Martin III, Ernie McLellan, and Eric Lawson.

WC will open their season against Northwest Ranking on August 24 at 6 p.m.
