Warren County expanded its no-smoking policies for employees and visitors on Monday.
In a unanimous vote, county supervisors approved a new policy to prohibit employees and visitors from smoking on or in any county property, including buildings and vehicles.
Because the policy prohibits smoking on county property, smokers will not be allowed to gather at building doorways, for example.
For smokers who work in the Warren County Courthouse, a receptacle for cigarette butts has been set up at the corner of Jackson and Cherry streets, which is also an NRoute bus stop. Smokers may also use any public sidewalk around the building, but not walkways on courthouse property.
The policy goes into effect on Friday, May 1.
