Warren Central High School powerlifter Lane Gordon set three district meet records on Saturday in the 132 pound weight class.

Gordon lifted a total of 1,020 pounds in squat, deadlift and bench press. He squatted 410 pounds, benched 115 pounds, and deadlifted 395 pounds.

Gordon is the only member of the Warren Central powerlifting team to win first place on Saturday and he will now advance to the North State meet. This is his third year in a row winning the district meet in his weight class.

“Weightlifting is more of a sport that helps to push yourself to the limits,” Gordon said. “It helps to build my confidence and it gives me somewhere to put my focus. It also helps me in other sports, like football.”

Gordon is well-coached by Chad McMullin, the head coach of WC powerlifting team.
