The Warren Central High School ninth grade girls basketball defeated crosstown rival Vicksburg High Thursday night in a 45-28 victory.
The Gators and the Vikings went toe to toe in the first quarter, ending it with an 8 point tie.
Lauren Madison stepped up big for the Vikings in the second quarter as she put up 7 points to help Warren Central go into the half ahead by 10 points, 24-14. She finished the game with a total of 18 points on the night.
Although the Gators fought hard throughout the night, they weren’t able to hold off the Vikings who continued to put up big points in the second half. Cynia Johnson, Terri Boyd and Rodrianna Hall all scored 8 points for Vicksburg.
Calise Henyard was also a key player for Warren Central as she scored 10 points to help contribute to her team’s victory, while Zion Harvey put up 9 points.
The victory gives the Vikings a 9-2 record, and they get bragging rights for the year against Vicksburg.high
