VPD recovers vehicle involved in fatal crash

Vicksburg Police have recovered the vehicle that is believed to have fled the scene of a fatal crash Friday, April 9,  morning on Highway 61 South.

Deputy Police Chief Bobby Stewart says the vehicle, dark gray 2010 Nissan Titan pickup truck, was found abandoned in the rear parking lot of the Dixiana Motel on South Washington Street. It has been impounded for processing.

Stewart added that he is working with law enforcement agencies in other jurisdictions to attempt to contact family members of the victim to attempt to make the appropriate death notifications. Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey said the victim was removed from the scene of the accident and transported to the Warren County Morgue which is housed inside Jefferson Funeral Home.

Deputy Chief Stewart is overseeing the investigation and said he anticipates an arrest in the case soon. He encourages anyone with information to contact the Vicksburg Police Department at 601-636-2511 or CrimeStoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).
