VPD incident report: theft of auto parts and auto burglary

The Vicksburg Police Department reports the following incidents for Monday, April 27.

Theft of Vehicle Parts

At 11:24 a.m., officers investigated an abandoned 1998 Mazda Protégé at the dead end of Old Cain Ridge Road. The vehicle was missing its tires, battery and windshield wipers and had damage to the glove compartment. Officers contacted the owner, who said they had loaned the car to a family member and did not know when the theft of the parts occurred.

Auto Burglary

At 3:06 p.m., a victim came to the police station to report the theft of a firearm from a vehicle that occurred in the 100 block of First East Street. The victim stated that someone entered the vehicle and stole a Ruger .380 LCP handgun with a clip from the console. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

Shooting reported on Grove Street in Vicksburg

An argument, apparently over a parking spot, turned into a shooting Friday in Vicksburg.

Vicksburg police and Warren County deputies responded to the 2200 block of Grove Street to the apartments near Cross Street around 3:30 p.m. Friday initially on a report of a loud argument.

No one was injured, but police are continuing to investigate the incident. At least two vehicles show evidence of being shot.

Police have taken one person into custody in connection with the incident, and they confiscated two weapons.

Thanksgiving homicide victim identified

Shots rang out over Vicksburg Thursday night, killing one man and injuring at least two others.

Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess has identified the deceased victim as Joshua Coffee, 28, of Demby Street in Vicksburg.

Vicksburg Police Chief Milton Moore identified the two injured men as Michael Jones, 29, and Kameron Reed, 27.

The shooting is under investigation by the Vicksburg Police, however according to Chief Moore, suspects have not yet been identified.

Thanksgiving ends in tragedy: three shot, one dead

Thanksgiving celebrations have taken a tragic turn in Vicksburg and Warren County.

Just before 8 p.m. Thursday, Vicksburg police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1200 block of Harrison Street.

Responders arrived to discover a male in a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of responding medics, the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the emergency room.

Initial reports indicate that two other individuals were shot in the incident, with one suffering a gunshot wound to the back and being transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. His condition and the condition of the third victim is unknown at this time.

Around 8:30 p.m., Warren County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Ironwood Drive, where a victim was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm.

Officials are working to determine if the two incidents are related. Suspects remain at large.
