VPD incident report: stolen vehicle recovered, burglaries, thefts and malicious mischief

The Vicksburg Police Department reported the following incidents for Tuesday, July 21, to Wednesday, July 22.

Tuesday at 7:45 a.m. officers recovered a stolen vehicle when they responded to an address on Oakland Street for a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway. The vehicle was a white Nissan Pathfinder that had been reported stolen from West Pine Street Monday, July 20. The owner of the vehicle was notified, and the vehicle was returned.

Tuesday at 12:59 p.m. officers took a report in reference to a grand larceny that occurred Monday, July 20, at Walmart, 2150 Iowa Blvd. The victim stated that someone took a wallet containing a Mississippi driver’s license, an identification card, a check for $340 and $1200 in cash from her shopping cart while she was loading items into her vehicle

Tuesday at 2:23 p.m., officers took a report at the police station about a felony malicious mischief incident that occurred Monday, July 20, on Halls Ferry Road. The victim reported a female rammed her white Dodge Challenger into his black Dodge Challenger, then got out of her vehicle and busted the passenger side front windshield with a large object.

Wholesale Furniture, 2004 Clay St., was the sight of a business burglary Wednesday, July 22, at 6:16 a.m. Responding officers found a shattered glass door, and the victim stated a bag of antique jewelry valued at $2,000 was taken.

Wednesday, July 22, at 9:21 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 5200 block of Common Circle concerning the theft of a firearm. The victim reported that someone had stolen a rifle valued at $1,200. The crime is grand larceny due to the value of the stolen rifle.

Vicksburg police make a drug bust after brief pursuit

Vicksburg police officers arrested a man Tuesday on drug charges after a brief pursuit.

James Morris, 30, of Vicksburg was arrested shortly after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, on U.S. Highway 80 just outside the city limits. The officers found that Morris was in possession of crack cocaine.

Charged with one count of possession of cocaine, Morris appeared Tuesday before Judge Angela Carpenter in the Vicksburg Municipal Court for his arraignment. Carpenter bound him over to the Warren County grand jury on a $30,000 bond.

Williams arrested for two separate burglaries at the Vicksburg Mall

Vicksburg police arrested Felix Williams, 30, of Vicksburg, for two separate burglaries at the Vicksburg Mall.

For a break-in Sunday, Oct. 11, into the mall and Jordan’s, Williams was charged with two counts of business burglary. Williams was also charged with two counts of business burglary and one count of grand larceny for the Oct. 2 burglary at the Sports Addition.

Monday, Oct. 12, Judge Angela Carpenter in the Vicksburg Municipal Court set Williams bond at $400,000 and bound him over to the Warren County grand jury.

Felon arrested for firearm possession after brief chase

A Vicksburg police officer arrested Marquette McCroy, 38, of Vicksburg after a brief chase Sunday.

McCroy failed to stop the vehicle he was driving and led the officer on a brief chase. After he stopped, the officer found that he was in possession of a handgun. He arrested McCroy shortly after midnight Sunday and charged him with possession of a firearm by a felon.

McCroy appeared before Judge Penny Lawson in Vicksburg Municipal Court Sunday, where she gave him a $75,000 bond and bound him over to the Warren County grand jury.
