The Vicksburg Police Department reported the following incidents for Wednesday, Sept. 2.

At 7:57 a.m. officers responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Oak Street in reference to a possible residential burglary. The officers contacted a family member of the resident who stated that nothing appeared to be missing.

Officers responded to the Ameristar Casino Hotel, 4155 Washington St., at 10:58 a.m. in reference to a theft. The victim stated that someone went into his safe and stole $2000, several bankcards, credit cards, a carton of cigarettes and a Samsung AO1 cellphone valued at $90. Because of the total value of the items stolen, this crime qualifies as a grand larceny.

At 8:34 a.m., a complainant came to the police station to report an auto burglary. The victim said a male subject had broken into her Toyota Camry at an address on Kings Drive and stolen three pairs of shoes and $160.

Two auto thefts were also reported Wednesday.

  • At 9:17 a.m. officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Sky Vale Drive where the victim reported someone stole his 2011 Ford Fusion. The vehicle was later recovered on Elizabeth Circle, but a Glock 9-mm handgun was still missing. The keys had been left in the vehicle and were not recovered.
  • At 8:53 p.m. officers responded to Los Parrilleros Restaurant, 2310 Iowa Blvd. where the complainant reported that an unknown male asked to ride his 2020 Honda Grom motorcycle and then left riding in an unknown direction. The motorcycle was later recovered behind a house on Park Street.
