VPD incident report: burglaries and auto thefts

The Vicksburg Police Department reported the following incidents for Wednesday, Sept. 2.

At 7:57 a.m. officers responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Oak Street in reference to a possible residential burglary. The officers contacted a family member of the resident who stated that nothing appeared to be missing.

Officers responded to the Ameristar Casino Hotel, 4155 Washington St., at 10:58 a.m. in reference to a theft. The victim stated that someone went into his safe and stole $2000, several bankcards, credit cards, a carton of cigarettes and a Samsung AO1 cellphone valued at $90. Because of the total value of the items stolen, this crime qualifies as a grand larceny.

At 8:34 a.m., a complainant came to the police station to report an auto burglary. The victim said a male subject had broken into her Toyota Camry at an address on Kings Drive and stolen three pairs of shoes and $160.

Two auto thefts were also reported Wednesday.

  • At 9:17 a.m. officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Sky Vale Drive where the victim reported someone stole his 2011 Ford Fusion. The vehicle was later recovered on Elizabeth Circle, but a Glock 9-mm handgun was still missing. The keys had been left in the vehicle and were not recovered.
  • At 8:53 p.m. officers responded to Los Parrilleros Restaurant, 2310 Iowa Blvd. where the complainant reported that an unknown male asked to ride his 2020 Honda Grom motorcycle and then left riding in an unknown direction. The motorcycle was later recovered behind a house on Park Street.

VPD reports auto theft and business burglary for Tuesday

The Vicksburg Police Department reports an auto theft and a business burglary occurred Tuesday, Oct. 13.

At 5:34 a.m. officers responded to a residence in the 3100 block of Washington Street in reference to a stolen vehicle. The complainant reported that someone stole a 2015 Chrysler 200.

The Days Inn at 90 Warrenton Road was the site of a business burglary Tuesday. Officers responded to the motel at 9:09 a.m. where the victims stated that someone kicked a room door in and stole a Dewalt paint sprayer, two Magnavox paint sprayers, a Minolta hand sander and a Milwaukee reciprocating saw. Two other saws of unknown brands were also taken. The total value of the missing equipment is estimated at $5,500.

Vicksburg police make a drug bust after brief pursuit

Vicksburg police officers arrested a man Tuesday on drug charges after a brief pursuit.

James Morris, 30, of Vicksburg was arrested shortly after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, on U.S. Highway 80 just outside the city limits. The officers found that Morris was in possession of crack cocaine.

Charged with one count of possession of cocaine, Morris appeared Tuesday before Judge Angela Carpenter in the Vicksburg Municipal Court for his arraignment. Carpenter bound him over to the Warren County grand jury on a $30,000 bond.

Williams arrested for two separate burglaries at the Vicksburg Mall

Vicksburg police arrested Felix Williams, 30, of Vicksburg, for two separate burglaries at the Vicksburg Mall.

For a break-in Sunday, Oct. 11, into the mall and Jordan’s, Williams was charged with two counts of business burglary. Williams was also charged with two counts of business burglary and one count of grand larceny for the Oct. 2 burglary at the Sports Addition.

Monday, Oct. 12, Judge Angela Carpenter in the Vicksburg Municipal Court set Williams bond at $400,000 and bound him over to the Warren County grand jury.
