Vicksburg local Scarlett Busby was getting ready to celebrate her 9th birthday last week, and made the heartwarming decision to celebrate her special day by helping her favorite local non-profit: Paws Rescue.
Instead of presents, Scarlett asked her friends and family to purchase dog food, treats, toys and supplies for the animals at the rescue center.
“She is such an animal lover,” said proud mom Shannon Bagley.
Scarlett managed to raise almost $300 cash in addition to food and supplies.
“We appreciate Scarlett and her generous, sweet heart because donations are how we survive,” said Leigh Conerly.
Paws Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill rescue founded in 2004. A team of volunteers runs the agency, which takes in stray and abandoned dogs and cats, often fostering the animals in their own homes.
Rescued animals are fostered until they find their forever homes. A great way to help out the organization is by fostering a rescue. Paws Rescue is dedicated to the health and well-being of the animals in their care, so all foster families are carefully screened.
Rescues also make great pets! Before you purchase from a pet store or kennel, consider giving one of the rescued animals at Paws Rescue a forever home. Adoption fees are minimal and you can be sure that all of the animals at Paws are up-to-date on shots and preventative medicines.
