Vicksburg Police arrest six teenagers for robbing and beating a man

On Friday, Nov. 15, Vicksburg Police officers arrested six local teenagers in connection with a robbery.

Five of those arrested were under the age of 18.

Officers responded to a report that a man had been robbed at gunpoint and beaten at the apartments at 1101 Bowmar Ave. The officers arrested four males and two females.

The six defendants appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, Nov. 18. All six were bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.

Lashunta Fulks, 18, of Jackson, was arraigned on one count of strong-armed robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime. Her bond was set at $175,000.

Ashanti Hardin, 17, of Vicksburg, was charged with one count of strong-armed robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime. Her bond was set at $150,000.

Kenan Jackson, 17, of Vicksburg, was charged with one count of strong-armed robbery, one count of possession of a stolen firearm, and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime. His bond was set at $165,000.

Samuel Smith, 17, of Vicksburg, was arraigned on one count of strong-armed robbery, one count of possession of a stolen firearm, and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime. His bond was set at $190,000.

Cameron Roby, 17, of Vicksburg, was charged with one count of strong-armed robbery, one count of possession of a stolen firearm, and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime. His bond was set at $190,000.

Demarion Smith, 15, of Vicksburg, was charged with one count of strong-armed robbery, one count of possession of a stolen firearm, and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime. His bond was set at $190,000.

The Vicksburg Police Department also reported the following:

Residential Burglary

On Friday, Nov. 15, officers responded to an address in the 3000 block of Washington Street, where the complainant reported an earlier burglary. According to the complainant, tools and ladders were taken,

Shots Fired

On Friday, Nov. 15, officers responded to the 2700 block of Alcorn Drive in reference to shots fired. When they arrived on the scene, the officers saw no signs of suspicious activity.

On Saturday, Nov. 16, officers responded to the 3200 block of Iowa Boulevard in reference to shots fired. When they arrived on scene, officers saw no signs of suspicious activity.

BREAKING: Another shooting at Azalea Trace Apartments in Warren County

The stabbing is not related to the shooting. It apparently occurred in the city of Vicksburg.

Another shooting occurred Tuesday around 8 p.m. at the Azalea Trace Apartments on Fisher Ferry Road in Warren County.

The information we have is that a 17-year-old male has been shot once in the ribs and has been transported to Merit Health River Region. Another male has been hospitalized with multiple lacerations in what appears to be the same incident. Apparently, the second man was not transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The incident happened in the same building as the shooting Saturday. It’s not known if the two incidents are connected.

This is a breaking story. The Vicksburg Daily News will provide more details as we get them.

Vicksburg Police arrest shooting suspect; respond to theft, burglary and another shooting

Vicksburg Police officers arrested William Taylor today, Dec. 10, 2019, on a warrant issued as a result of a Nov. 9 shooting on Letitia Street.

Taylor is charged with possession of a weapon by a felon and discharging a firearm in the city limits.

He will be housed in the Madison County Jail overnight and brought back on Wednesday, Dec. 11, for his arraignment.

The Vicksburg Police Department also reported the following incidents:

Grand Larceny: Monday, Dec. 9, officers responded to the La Quinta Inn, 4160 South Frontage Road, for a report of a theft. The complainants reported someone stole their U-Haul trailer, which contained military equipment, a Datson vacuum, clothes, a safe, a 1-kilo bar of silver, a gold ring, and personal papers.

Business Burglary: Monday, Dec. 9, officers responded to the YMCA, 267 YMCA Place, in reference to a theft. The complainant stated that someone broke into his office and stole his safety harness vest and safety rope.

Simple Assault by Firearm: Monday, Dec. 9, officers responded to the Emergency Room at Merit Health River Region, 2100 U.S. Highway 61 North, for a reported gunshot victim. The victim stated he had been shot in his right arm while walking on Military Avenue.

Vicksburg police make a drug arrest, respond to auto theft and shots fired

The Vicksburg Police Department has provided the following incident reports for Friday, Dec. 6 through Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019.

On Friday, Dec. 6, Vicksburg Police officers arrested Clarence Lee, 64, of Vicksburg, at a traffic stop. He is charged with possession of cocaine and will appear before Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court today, Monday, Dec. 9.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, officers responded to the Circle K convenience store at 4150 Washington St. for a reported auto theft. The complainant said that someone stole his 2017 Dodge Challenger from the gas pump.

Officers also responded to two reports of shots fired. In both cases, officers found no signs of suspicious activity or evidence of shots being fired.

The first call was on Friday, Dec. 6, in the 2700 block of Alcorn Drive, and the second report was on Sunday, Dec 8, in the area of Ivy Circle and Springridge Drive.
