UPDATE: Duane Lamar Williams will have his initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court Friday, Sept. 18, at around 10 a.m.

Shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, officers of the Vicksburg Police Department Narcotics/NET Team executed a search warrant at the residence at 812 Central Ave.

Duane Lamar Williams, 45 was arrested, and he will be charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking of narcotics and four counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Williams is on federal parole for narcotics- related charges.

The operation is the result of an investigation begun earlier this year following complaints of narcotics activity in the area. Several purchases of illegal narcotics were made with the assistance of undercover agents and cooperating individuals during the investigation.

Total amount of the seized narcotics is 9 kilos of marijuana and 2,700 Ecstasy pills. Also seized were three handguns — a Smith & Wesson .45-caliber pistol, a TEC-9 9-mm pistol and a Sig-Sauer SP2022 9-mm pistol — a Mossberg .22-caliber rifle and $3,770 in cash.

Other charges against Williams may be forthcoming as the investigation continues, and additional arrests may be possible.
