Vicksburg PD incident report: three felony arrests, one burglary and multiple shots fired

The Vicksburg Police Department is reporting three felony arrests in separate incidents, a burglary and several shots-fired calls from Friday, April 10, until Monday, April 13.

Officers arrested Jeanette Spratley, 49, of Vicksburg, Friday on one count of uttering a forgery. The incident occurred at Community Choice Financial in October 2019.

Spratley appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court before Judge Angela Carpenter the same day, who set her bond at $2,500 and bound her over to the Warren County grand jury.

On Sunday, officers of the Vicksburg Police Department Narcotics Enforcement Team made contact with Steven Lyons, 27, of Port Gibson, Miss., at 3:07 a.m. Lyons was in a vehicle on Military Avenue near Halls Ferry Road after curfew.

Lyons was wanted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office on a burglary charge, and officers handed him over to authorities there. Lyons will face misdemeanor charges in Vicksburg at a later date.

Officers arrested Kenneth Townsend, 22, of Vicksburg, on one count of aggravated assault-domestic violence on Monday, April 13. He appeared before Judge Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court the same day. Carpenter bound Townsend over to the Warren County grand jury on a $30,000 bond.

In other reported incidents:

Sunday at 7:04 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in reference to a residential burglary. The victim stated an Xbox One, multiple golden necklaces, a fireproof safe containing approximately $4,000, a .40 caliber handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun were stolen.

Police investigated three incidents of shots fired:

  • Friday at 10:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Halls Ferry Road, where they collected spent shell casings. Witnesses gave a description of a suspect vehicle.
  • On Saturday at 6:24 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Polk Street in reference to a single gunshot being fired. Officers searched the area but didn’t find any evidence.
  • Officers responded to a shots-fired call at the Madison Glen Apartments, 1950 Hope St., on Saturday at 8:33 p.m., As the officers arrived on the scene, they saw a crowd running from the playground into apartments and vehicles. The officers did not observe a disturbance, but they stayed on scene until all parties were clear.

Vicksburg teenager faces multiple charges after Sunday night incident

A Vicksburg teenager faces multiple charges in connection with an incident that occurred Sunday night.

Police arrested Staci Foster, 18, after the car Foster was driving struck a 21-year-old woman on Grange Hall Road around 11:41 p.m. Sunday. The victim was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment.

Foster was charged with one count of aggravated assault domestic violence, one count of leaving the scene of an accident with injury and one count of reckless driving.

She appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court Monday before Judge Angela Carpenter who set her bond at $105,000 and bound her over to the Warren County grand jury.

Vicksburg man charged with embezzlement of TJ Maxx

Vicksburg police officers arrested a man Thursday for embezzlement.

Officers were dispatched to the TJ Maxx store, 3405 Pemberton Square Blvd., where they arrested Rogers Zakolby Wesley, 20, of Vicksburg, on Thursday, Nov. 19. Wesley is accused of stealing $2,641.16 in merchandise from the store.

He appeared before Judge Penny Lawson in Vicksburg Municipal Court Friday, Nov. 20, charged with one count of embezzlement. Lawson set his bond at $2,500 and bound him over to the Warren County grand jury.

Carson arrested on felony warrants

Horatio Carson, 34, of 272 Cedars School Circle, was arrested Thursday on a felony warrant for probation violation.

Vicksburg police Investigator Donnie Heggins and Lt. Jeff Merritt, and Mario Grady, investigator for the Mississippi attorney general’s office, executed the warrant after Carson was spotted at the carwash on Grange Hall Road.

Carson was indicted in the October session of the grand jury as a habitual offender on charges of possession of a controlled substance and fleeing or evading a police officer.
