Vicksburg High School football player Marquise Blackmore has committed to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, which has the No. 1 junior college football program in the country.

Blackmore first started playing football in seventh grade at Vicksburg Junior High School before becoming a hard hitting lineman on both sides of the ball at VHS. He has spent the last few seasons at VHS starting at offensive lineman and defensive tackle.

Mississippi Gulf Coast will have Blackmore playing defensive tackle after he graduates high school in May 2020.

“I chose Gulf Coast because I loved the coaches and the facilities that they have, plus the coaches made me feel right at home,” he said.

During his time at VHS, Blackmore played under head coach Tim Hughes and offensive lineman coach Andre Bennett.

“My coaches coached very hard throughout the year, and they love the players and the job that they do,” Blackmore said.
