The Vicksburg Cruisers annual car show is normally held earlier in the year. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic forced postponement, but that didn’t stop the group of area automobile enthusiasts who support various causes throughout the year.
This is the 14th year of the annual event, which begins Friday night with a drive-in movie. This year’s feature is the classic, “Grease.” There is no cost to view the movie.
Gates open at 6 p.m. at Blackburn Motor Company, 2135 North Frontage Road.
Club official Micky Parker says bring your lawn chairs, blankets or whatever but be prepared to observe social distancing. The club will have masks and hand sanitizer available.
The car show gets underway Saturday at 8 a.m. running until 3 p.m. Awards will be presented at 2 p.m. There is no charge to attend the car show or the movie, however, donations to Renewal House are encouraged and greatly appreciated
Awards include people’s choice, kid’s pick, police choice, Mayor’s pick, promoters pick, Sweet 16, club pick, best rat rod, best motorcycle and more.
The event also includes a vendor area along with 50/50 raffle. Bring your swap meet items.
Parker says expect various types of cars trucks, tractors and military vehicles. Early registration to show a car is still available through Friday for $20 or $25 the day of the show. Dash plaques will be presented to the first 100 registrants.
