The Vicksburg Civil War Museum held its grand opening on Saturday and is now open for the public.

The fascinating museum which is located at 1123 Washington Street, shines a light on the roles African Americans during the American Civil War.

The amount of weapons and artillery that owner Charles Pendelton has collected is a must see for anyone who has a interest in history and wants to learn about major event that changed the nation forever.

Many individuals from the community showed up Saturday to show their support of the new downtown business and were satisfied with the artifacts such as the slave cabin.

Hours of operation for the museum is Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
