Vicksburg police responded to the Deluxe Inn Hotel on Frontage Road to a call of shots fired at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

On scene, officers spoke with Anana Nicole Haymer about the incident. Haymer told police she was inside of her room at the hotel when she noticed a loud knocking sound. Haymer then told police she looked out her window and witnessed Lajessica Re’sah Miller in the act of damaging her vehicle.

Haymer then told police she left the room, at that time Miller shot at her. Haymer stated she returned fire with her weapon, which struck another vehicle in the parking lot of the hotel. Miller returned more gunfire into Haymer’s room.

According to reports, Haymer’s room was occupied by three other persons who did not sustain injuries in the gunfire exchange.

The incident is reported to be linked to an ongoing dispute between the two parties.

Both Miller and Haymer were taken into custody. Miller is being faced with charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling and aggravated assault. Haymer is being charged with shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.

Both are to be seen before Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court at 2 p.m. Thursday.
