Three Vicksburg natives will start Thursday night for Hinds Community College as they face the defending national champions Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Malik Sims, Chris Winston and Connor Smith will be back on the field for the first time since last season.

Sims was a star linebacker at Warren Central last year, and he was highly recruited by many junior colleges. He was also a Vicksburg Daily News all county player last season.

Winston also played for the Vikings last season on both offense and defense. He helped get WC to the playoffs in all three of his varsity years. He will start tonight at center for Hinds.

Smith graduated from St. Aloysius in 2019 where he was the kicker and punter for the Flashes. He is in his second season with the Eagles and will start tonight as the kicker.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. in Perkinston, Mississippi. The Vicksburg Daily News will provide updates on the local players’ success.
