A teenager was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center on Saturday with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Just after noon on Saturday, Vicksburg-Warren 911 received a report of a shooting in the 400 block of Ashwood Drive.
The victim, identified as Augustus Judge, Jr., 18, was found lying outside of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the chest.
“Initial indications are that two teenagers, two 18-year-olds, were sitting in a vehicle – there was a handgun the vehicle. At some point the handgun discharged and struck the young man who was the passenger in the vehicle,” stated Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.
Judge was transported to River Region Medical and then to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Detective Sam Winchester and Sargent Stacy Rollinson.
