UPDATE:

The county coroner has been called to the scene, indicated a fatality. This is now a homicide investigation.

Early reports of a victim being transported to the hospital appear to be incorrect.

Original story:

Vicksburg Police officers are investigating a shooting that occurred just after noon Friday at the New Main Apartments on Alcorn Drive.

One person had been transported to Merit Health River Region based on initial reports, which indicate at least two shooters are involved. The victim’s condition is not known.

Police have identified a person of interest in this case, according to Police Chief Milton Moore.

A “Be On the Lookout” alert has been issued for an older model white Ford pickup with Yazoo County license plates occupied by a black female.

This is a developing story. The Vicksburg Daily News will provide update as more information becomes available.
