Selvy threw two touchdown passes Thursday for the Bears

YMCA flag football player Deonta Selvy Jr. led the Bears to a 24-6 victory Thursday night over the Jaguars.

Selvy threw two touchdown passes in the big win, giving the Bears a 4-1 record. Wide receivers Colton Thomas and Corbin Walker caught the touchdown passes from him.

Selvy is a fifth grader at Bowmar Elementary and has been leading the Bears to winning seasons every year that he played football for the YMCA.

The Bears end their season when they play the Rockets this coming Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Vicksburg native Harris had four catches for the Colts Sunday

Vicksburg native DeMichael Harris saw some action on the football field Sunday night for the Indianapolis Colts as they played the Baltimore Ravens.

The former St. Aloysius star had four catches and 27 yards in the 24-10 loss to the Ravens.

Harris is in his rookie season in the NFL and is seeing a decent amount of playing time after being promoted from the practice squad just a few weeks ago.

The Colts will face the Tennessee Titans Thursday which means that Harris will be going up against former Vicksburg High star Malcolm Butler who is the starting  cornerback for the Titans.

WC basketball player Travis Williams scored 21 points Thursday

Warren Central High School basketball player Travis Williams had his best performance as a Viking Thursday when he helped lead the team to victory.

Williams scored a season high of 21 points in the Vikings 62-50 win over Crystal Springs High School. He hit an impressive five 3-pointers in the game, which easily helped WC come out with a win.

Williams is in his senior season playing for the Vikings under head coach Bruce Robinson. He only averaged 3.1 points per game last season, but he is showing off his great athleticism and is shooting for greater statistics this season.

Burns scored over 30 points in all three games this season for PCA

Porter’s Chapel basketball player Yakia Burns has now had three straight games scoring over 30 points in each one.

Burns scored 32 points in the Lady Eagles’ first two games, which helped the team to a 1-1 record.

On Thursday, The Lady Eagles defeated Franklin Academy 51-42, with Burns again leading the team with 33 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lady Eagles (2-1) will be shooting for another victory when they face off with Franklin Academy again in an away game on Tuesday.
