At about 9:23 p.m., Vicksburg Fire Department officials were on the scene of a tree sparking on a power line near Indiana Avenue and North Frontage Road. Firefighters reported hearing a crash on the south side of the interstate and thought that a power pole had fallen. They reported in to E-911 that they were en-route to investigate. They reported an overturned 18-wheeler, immediately upon their arrival at the scene of the accident. The truck, a contracted truck hauling FedEx trailers, overturned on I-20 near the Indiana Avenue exit ramp onto I-20 eastbound. The aforementioned exit ramp is closed due to the a downed power pole, which seems to have been struck by the 18-wheeler. Crews will remain on the scene for a few hours in order to clean up the diesel fuel leaking from the truck and the wreckage itself. The southernmost lane of I-20, nearest the Kangaroo station, remains open at this time, but we encourage you to find an alternate route.
