Roderick Hicks Jr., a former Vicksburg High School Gator, recently finished his last season playing for Jones County Community College and will now be fighting for a starting position at Mississippi Valley State University.

Hicks has spent the last two seasons being a shutdown cornerback for the Jones Bobcats, but now he is taking his talents to a higher level where he will be on the defensive at the Division 1 level of football. He finished his sophomore season at Jones CC with 27 total tackles and four tackles for loss.

As a Bobcat, Hicks showed his ability to lockdown receivers and to get to the ball carrier without hesitation.

Now that Hicks will be playing on the next level, he has a chance to bring some life to the MVSU defense next season.

Last season, MVSU struggled as a team, but now that they are adding Hicks on the defense, they could be headed in the right direction for a better 2020 season.

Hicks is a 2018 graduate of Vicksburg High School where he was a key defensive player for the Gators.
