As of 6:30 p.m. Thursday, a multi-agency operation continues on Interstate 20 westbound near the Hinds/Warren County line.
Within the last hour, officials have gotten one eastbound lane reopened. The westbound lanes remain closed, however, and it is unclear as to when they may reopen.
Firefighters have rotated in fresh manpower as they continue to extinguish two 18-wheelers and several passenger vehicles.
Three people were transported to Jackson area hospitals, one to UMMC and two to Central Mississippi Medical Center. Warren County Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess remains on scene at this time.
As many as a half dozen Mississippi State Troopers are currently on the accident scene attempting to reconstruct the course of events surrounding the accident.
There is no current timeline for reopening the westbound lanes, but the Vicksburg Daily News will keep you up-to-date as the situation evolves.
