Vicksburg and Warren County have taken a proactive approach to mitigating the spread of coronavirus from the beginning of the pandemic.
While Governor Reeves mandates masks only for ‘hot-spot’ counties, Warren County has managed to stay off of that list. It can be argued that this was accomplished largely by adopting masks and social distancing early on.
Not everyone, though, is pleased with the restrictions in place. There has been much debate on the effectiveness of the precautionary measures, as well questioning the motives for implementing them.
Friday, Mayor Flaggs announced an extension of the mask and social distancing ordinances as well as the enforcement of misdemeanor charges for individuals that are caught repeatedly violating the mask mandate.
Many citizens have taken to social media, some praising the Mayor’s response and others criticizing the mandates. How do you think our leaders have handled the pandemic?
