Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace has reported to the Vicksburg Daily News that a suspect has been arrested for rape.

On April 25, 2021, the Sheriff’s office was contacted by a local medical provider that a child under the age of 16 showed up at their facility declaring that they had been raped. Sergeant Stacy Rollison and Detective Zac Primeaux began the investigation.

The suspect was identified as Anthony William Qualls, 21, of Vicksburg, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

At about 3 a.m. on August 5, Vicksburg Police came across Qualls in a traffic stop. When they ran his name they discovered his outstanding warrant and Vicksburg police officers made the arrest and then turned him over to the Sheriff’s Office.

At an initial appearance Friday in county court, Judge Marcy Southerland ordered Qualls held without bond. He is charged with rape of a child under the age of 16.

According to the Sheriff, this is still a very fluid and ongoing investigation and the Sheriff would not speculate on additional arrests.

The victim in this case is not a family member. Child protective services were notified at the onset and the child is safe.
