A murder suspect out of East Baton Rouge who led Mississippi Gulf Coast law enforcement on a low-speed pursuit Monday is now deceased.
Eric Derell Smith, 30, was accused of fatally shooting two people and then fleeing the scene with a 4-month-old baby. The child is currently in stable condition at a Biloxi hospital, according to WLBT.
A journalist on the scene indicated that Smith was holding the baby while firing at police during the chase.
