Player Spotlight: St. Aloysius quarterback scored his second rushing touchdown of the season last week

St. Aloysius quarterback Tristan Wilbanks scored a rushing touchdown last Thursday during the Flashes homecoming game against Adam County Christian School.

The score was Wilbanks’ second week in a row where he had a rushing touchdown starting when the Flashes defeated Silliman Institute the week before.

This season is Wilbanks’ first year playing varsity football and so far he has led the Flashes to a 3-5 record.  He is mostly known for his talents on the baseball field, but now he is leading the offense on the football team.

Wilbanks is expected to have a good game this coming Friday as St. Al will travel to play Washington School in fight for a playoff spot.

Thompson and Riggs top quarterbacks in Vicksburg and Warren County

Warren Central quarterback Kentrick Thompson and Porter’s Chapel Academy quarterback Jace Riggs are the two top quarterbacks in Vicksburg and Warren County as of this week.

Thompson is leading statistically for the two public schools in the Vicksburg area. He has an overall of six touchdowns on the season, and the Vikings remain undefeated.

Riggs, who is in his first season as starting quarterback for the Eagles, is leading for the private schools in the area. He has made seven touchdowns, and PCA maintains a 4-4 record.

Both have stepped up for their teams this year, and each week they continue to improve.

Riggs and PCA will face Glenbrook this Friday at home starting at 7 p.m., and the Vikings have an off week.

Sims racked up eight tackles in his college debut

Vicksburg native and Hinds Community College football player Malik Sims made eight tackles in his college football debut Thursday night.

In the game against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Sims came in second with tackles for the Eagles as they lost 31-24 against the defending national championship team.

Sims was a key player in the game, and he was seen all over the field stopping defenders. He is mostly known for his great tackling ability, which started when he was a Warren Central Viking playing under head coach Josh Morgan.

Sims and the Eagles will be at home this coming Thursday as they face the Jones County CC Bobcats.

Prescott suffers serious injury in victory over Giants

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott went down with a serious ankle injury in the game against the New York Giants.

The former Mississippi State University quarterback is playing under a one-year franchise tag that is worth $31.4 million. Prescott’s injury seemed to be very serious as pictures were floating around the media.

Prescott had to be carted off the field in the third quarter and multiple reports are saying that he will need surgery to repair his ankle.

Although Prescott left the game, the Cowboys were able to pull off the 37-34 victory over the Giants.
