One injured in drive by shooting on South Street

Vicksburg Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred around 4:08 a.m. today, Nov. 27, at 1517 South Street.

One person was hit in the shooting. Denise Bester was sitting on the side of her bed when shots rang out, entering her home. She was struck once in her upper back.

Paramedics transported Bester to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss., where she was last listed in stable condition.

Witnesses told police that a dark colored vehicle traveled west on South Street and its occupants started shooting from the passenger side, striking 1517 South Street.

The vehicle then left the area at a high rate of speed.
