At 11:14 p.m., a Warren County man was shot while sitting in a vehicle in the 1100 block of National Street.

As first reported by the Vicksburg Daily News, the young man, 20, was sitting in the front passenger seat of a gray Challenger when the incident occurred.

Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones met with investigators Thursday morning and discussed the evidence and information received.

Jones reported to the Vicksburg Daily News, “We certainly don’t want to divulge what was told as it is information we will be able to use to secure an arrest. At this time I’m sure the suspect/suspects are coming up with a plan to get away with what happened. However, we are already on top of this and are confident that an arrest will be made soon. This is such a tragedy for the family and for the community for those that truly care about the victim. The citizens in Vicksburg come together for such incidents as this and fight for justice for the families.”

Jones then stated that the police department is on the case and hopes to make an arrest soon. VDN will provide updates as they become available.
