The Golden Eagles put up a great fight against No. 24 Texas Tech Monday, but a big second half performance by the Red Raiders prevented them from finishing on top.

The Golden Eagles came out hot as the game started, and they remained ahead of Texas Tech for most of the first half. USM took the halftime time lead 32-25.

Although the Golden Eagles had a nice lead at halftime, it was short lived as the Red Raiders scored 46 points in the second half to win the game.

Although USM lost the ball game, they had a couple of players who put up impressive numbers on the night. LaDavius Draine led the Golden Eagles with 21 points, followed by Gabe Watson who put up 20 points.

The Golden Eagles will be back home on Saturday at 2 p.m. to face Tougaloo College.
