MSDH reports over 6,000 Mississippi students quarantined

Over 6,000 Mississippi students were quarantined across the state of Mississippi, according to a weekly report released by the Mississippi Department of Health. The total represents reported positive and quarantined students for  Sep. 13 – Sep. 17. As of Sep. 21, at 10 a.m., 785 schools in 71 counties have reported.

A total of 27 new outbreaks were reported across the state. In total, 213 teachers and staff and 1,420  students tested positive for COVID-19 during Sept. 13 through Sept. 17.

Since the beginning of August, 3,959 teachers and staff have contracted the virus. Through the report’s date range, 258 teachers and staff members were quarantined, along with 6,297 students. Since the beginning of August, 22,471 students across the state have tested positive for the virus.

According to the report released by the MSDH, Warren County has experienced positive COVID cases at the following schools:

  • Academy of Innovation
  • Beechwood Elementary
  • Dana Road Elementary
  • South Park Elementary
  • Vicksburg Catholic School
  • Vicksburg High School
  • Vicksburg Intermediate
  • Warren Central Intermediate
  • Warren Central Junior High School
