Biloxi – For the first time in state history, Mississippi Veterans Affairs (MSVA) is hosting the annual National Association of State Veterans Homes (NASVH) Summer Conference. The event is being held at the Beau Rivage Casino and Resort in Biloxi.

“We are proud to host this year’s conference, and we welcome our colleagues from across the nation to the magnolia state,” said MSVA Executive Director Stacey Pickering. “Sharing ideas and engaging with subject matter experts in the nursing care and leadership fields will allow us all to better serve the Veteran community.”

The five-day conference brings State Veterans Home leaders together to exchange ideas and promote best practices to enhance the overall care and assistance of Veterans Homes residents nationwide.

“After 18 months of video conferences and meetings, it is great to be together again,” added NASVH President and Vermont State Veterans Home Administrator Melissa Jackson. “We are all looking forward to learning best practices and continuing NASVH’s mission of Caring for America’s Heroes.”

Some of the breakout sessions will include:

  • Fall and Injury Prevention
  • Senior Dining Innovation
  • Mobility and Recovery
  • Creating an environment of diversity, inclusion and equality.
  • Better wound care practices and outcomes
