Four Vicksburg natives create an app to help noncustodial parents

Published

In 2017, Vicksburg natives and childhood friends Jerome Bracy, Reginald Wheatley, Von Mixon Jr. and Maurice Mixon started a tech company they called 1 Studio Inc.

The company’s biggest project to date is an app for noncustodial parents called ChildsBest.  The four men have worked hard to provide help and resources for parents with the app, which they will soon be introducing for beta testing.

The app has three steps to help noncustodial parents track and store important documents, find legal resources and prepare for the future.

The first step, Organize, allows parents to create a profile for each child. The profile provides a place to track purchases, log text messages, store court documents and more. The app logs each entry with a time stamp to help the parent keep up-to-date on purchases and events.

The second step, Resources, contains a family attorney database where users can search for lawyers by city and state.

“I did the research on each attorney,” Bracey said. “We also partnered with Vicksburg attorney Chris Greene.”

The third step, Building, provides financial resources such as health and life insurance, and bank cards to manage their kid’s spending. The app recommends services and practices that help noncustodial parents plan for the future and ensure their children are set up for success.

“The whole point of the app is to help bring noncustodial parents back into the home,” Bracey said.
