The standoff continues with an armed suspect who fled the scene of an incident at Bovina Grocery Monday morning in which a Warren County investigator was assaulted.  Authorities have disabled the suspect’s vehicle on Highway 65 north of Tallulah, and are working toward a peaceful apprehension.

A witness on the scene of the Bovina Grocery incident reported that the suspect said several times, “I’m not going back to jail.”  In their desperation, the suspect fled and made it as far as the scene of the standoff in Madison Parish, on Highway 65 near Ashley Plantation Road.

The suspect is armed and clearly volatile.  Authorities have permitted family members to approach the scene to try to help talk the suspect down and aid in a peaceful resolution.

Highway 65 is blocked in both directions until this situation is resolved.  Plan an alternate route to avoid the area.

Vicksburg Daily News’ David Day is on the scene, and we will keep you informed as the tense situation in Madison Parish continues to develop.
