Holmes CC coach Jeff Koonz announces retirement

Holmes Community College football coach Jeff Koonz announced Friday that he is retiring after 15 years of coaching at the school.

Koonz has been head coach for the past nine seasons and has won two MACJC Coach of the Year awards. Before coaching college football, Koonz was head coach at his alma mater in NewYork State, Wallkill High School.

Koonz finished his last game on Oct. 24, 2019, when Holmes defeated Coahoma Community College 49-16. He plans to move to Florida for retirement after many years of coaching football. He and his wife Patti have one son who coaches football at West Virginia University.

Holmes Community College is now in search of a new head coach.
