In an effort assist Purple Heart recipients, the Vicksburg-Warren County Board of Realtors will hosting its sixth annual golf event Oct. 25 at the Vicksburg Country Club, 127 Country Club Drive.

“It’s a four person scramble with a one o’clock shotgun start,” said Jill Bishop of the Vicksburg-Warren County Board of Realtors. “Goldies Express is catering the event. They’ve catered it each year, and the tournament is being organized by Nevada Bob’s Golf.”

The event is open to all golfers, and teams of four are invited to play.

“It’s open to the public,” Bishop said. “It’s a realtor event, but everyone is welcome.”

This event is a fundraiser with two beneficiaries.

“A small part of the proceeds will go towards our scholarship fund,” she said. “We don’t always make enough, but when we do we have one. The other proceeds go to the Warrior Bonfire Program. They’re committed to improving the lives of Purple Heart recipients, individuals who have served in a war and were wounded by the enemy.”

Advance registration is $90 per player and $320 per team. To play and be a sponsor, the fee is $400. To register or sponsor this event, contact Nevada Bob’s Golf at 601-713-1700 or the Vicksburg-Warren County Board of Realtors at 601-618-5351.
