At around 4:30 p.m., Inv. Curtis Judge attempted to stop a vehicle near the WIC Center on Main Street that matched the description given in a report to 911 of suspicious activity in the area, but the vehicle failed to yield for the traffic stop.

A brief pursuit ensued, with Officers Dane Davenport and Joe Shows joining the effort. Officers were able to surround the vehicle at the corner of Jefferson and Farmer Streets and with nowhere to go, the vehicle pulled into the yard of a residence.

All four occupants of the vehicle have been taken into custody: a 16-year-old male was driving with another minor of unknown age in the front passenger seat, along with a 19-year-old and a 35-year-old that were riding in the backseat.

Firearms were recovered in the vehicle. (photo by David Day)

Upon searching the vehicle, at least two handguns were found.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and the Vicksburg Daily News will bring you more information as it becomes available.
