Purvis Ward and Mary Sessums, arrested for counterfeiting money.

Rankin County police have arrested a couple for allegedly printing and using counterfeit money.

The couple, Purvis Dustin Ward, 32, and Mary Glassmire Sessums, 38, were apprehended at a traffic stop in Pelahatchie after Rankin police put out the description of their vehicle, reports WLBT.

Police received complaints of the couple using counterfeit bills at yard sales Saturday. A search of their vehicle produced more than $1,000 in fake bills, and a subsequent search of the couple’s residence produced more evidence of counterfeiting.

Rankin Police have contacted the U.S. Secret Service, who are now part of the investigation.

Counterfeiting U.S. currency is a federal crime. If convicted, Ward and Sessums could face fines up to $250,000 and up to 20 years in prison.
