Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs, Jr. has announced that City of Vicksburg offices will be closed on Monday, August 30, due to expected severe weather associated with Hurricane Ida, but that essential workers are to report to work.
“All essential employees including Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments are expected to report for work,” Mayor Flaggs said. “We’ll do whatever’s necessary to keep the public safe and continue to provide city services to our residents throughout this expected severe weather.”
“I’m asking everyone to please exercise extreme caution when traveling — do not move traffic cones or barricades and be aware of downed power lines and other debris on streets. In the event of an emergency, please utilize our 911 system. If you need me, contact me on my cell phone at 601.942.0492. Stay safe, Vicksburg.”
