You are invited to a first in Vicksburg — a Drag Brunch hosted at the Beverly Carol (1219 Adams St.) Saturday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The brunch is the first LGBTQ event in the River City, a streak that organizer Cody Frost said he feels privileged to break.
“Mississippi has been taking strides in the right direction” in terms of activism, Frost said. “It is just taking us a little longer.”
While he feels proud to represent the LGBTQ community with this event, most of all, he wants people to come out and enjoy the show. “Nobody really knows what we have to offer,” he said.
All four headlining performers are from the South and three are from Mississippi. Each queen was chosen for her strengths and skills, each being different from the next, creating a diverse lineup for the show.
On the menu, guests will find a wide variety of the standard brunch fare. The $65 ticket price is all inclusive.
Safety of the guests and performers has taken priority in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. To ensure social distancing, there are limited tickets available. Sanitization stations will be set up throughout, and all staff and performers will be wearing PPE. Guests are asked to comply with the safety guidelines and wear masks as well, except of course, while eating.
At the time of this writing, about half of the available tickets have been sold. If you would like to attend, please call 601-642-4824 to make your reservation.
