North Pontotoc High School football player Landon Woodson has died due to COVID-19.
The 16 year old sophomore died on Saturday at a hospital in Memphis. The Pontotoc community is still in shock of his death.

Friend of Woodson, Andrew Phillips, commented to WTVA on the death of his classmate.
“He’s the reason why I wanted to go further and play college football. Talking about him and seeing him get excited within himself, I noticed sometimes that I would sometimes get excited too,” said Phillips. “Just talking about the game with him, it was like a motivating factor for me.”

Gravesides service is Sep. 29 at Blue Mountain Cemetery in Blue Mountain, Ms. Visitation is Wednesday, from noon until 2 p.m. at Blue Mountain Cemetery. Brother Steven Thomas will officiate.
