First responders going door to door in Satartia seeking gas leak victims

Perry Creek Road in Satartia is the scene of a potentially deadly gas leak.

At approximately 7:35 p.m. a call came into E911 that a gas leak had occurred in Yazoo County. People were complaining of headaches and dizziness with some people passing out. First responders from multiple state agencies responded to the emergency in an effort to find victims.

Emergency rooms in Yazoo are full and the overload is being directed to Merit Health River Region in Warren County. So far, five patients have been transported to MHRR.

Just before 10 p.m., emergency personal discovered three non-responsive people in a vehicle on a gravel road off 433. There is no further word on their condition although radio traffic indicated they were being rushed to ambulances.

The nature of the leak could cause numerous other people to be found in their homes or vehicles throughout the night.

Highway 3 into Yazoo County is closed at the Warren County line and other points in Yazoo that lead to the gas leak area.

Extra personnel have been called in by the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Warren county has units on scene assisting with traffic. Numerous ambulance and rescue units are also staging near the scene.
